Nicole Berkman, Esq. Managing Attorney

Nicole Berkman, Esq. is the founding member of Berkman Law Group.  She has previously worked for prominent and boutique law firms in the areas of matrimonial and family law, real estate, and estate planning, and has served clients throughout Suffolk County, Nassau County, and the five boroughs.  

Ms. Berkman received her B.A. from Stony Brook University and her J.D. from Touro University, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, graduating at the top of her class.  She has received numerous awards, including Touro University’s Public Interest Law award, and has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Ms. Berkman is currently attending Adelphi University to obtain her master’s degree in social work so she may better assist her clients in navigating the often complex legal system.  In her spare time, she likes to play softball and hike with her husband and their 4-year-old Blue Heeler Mix rescue, Ruby.

Louis L. Sternberg, Esq. Of Counsel

Berkman Law Group is proud to have Louis L. Sternberg’s join our firm as of counsel.  For over 10 years, Mr. Sternberg has been in the private practice of law, primarily devoted to family law and matrimonial matters. He has practiced and successfully tried cases in the Family and Supreme Courts of Long Island and New York City. Additionally, Mr. Sternberg has authored briefs in the Appellate Division, Second Department.

Mr. Sternberg is a member of the Suffolk County 18b Family Court panel and Supreme Court Matrimonial panel. He is also member of the Bar Associations of Suffolk County, Nassau County and New York State. 

Mr. Sternberg has been honored as a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2015 to 2020, and has been ranked as a New York Metro Super Lawyer from 2021 to date.

Jamie L. Ruiz, Esq. Of Counsel

Jamie L. Ruiz, Esq., M.B.A. is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey. Ms. Ruiz is also admitted to the federal bar in both the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She attended Touro University, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center where she received her Juris Doctor and served as the Articles Editor of the Touro Law Review. Ms. Ruiz obtained her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University at Albany. Ms. Ruiz concentrates in the areas of business law, real estate, bankruptcy, municipal law, contract law, and vehicle and traffic matters. After law school, Ms. Ruiz worked as an Excelsior Service Fellow for the New York State Governor’s Office and the Authorities Budget Office. Following her tenure in government, Ms. Ruiz worked both in the public and private sectors in corporate and municipal litigation, public finance, and non-profit tax compliance.

In her spare time, Ms. Ruiz is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Touro University, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and the President of the Matthew J. Ruiz Memorial Foundation.
